Many Indians woke up early yesterday morning and saw history being made. u00a0 The Academy Awards had a complete desi flavour to it with Slumdog Millionaire stealing the show. The who's who of Hollywood walked the red carpet at the Oscars, but all eyes were on the tiny tots from the Mumbai slums. Slumdog and its desi crew were in the limelight with Freida Pinto adding to the glamour quotient. u00a0 Of the 10 nominations Slumdog bagged eight awards. And today, it's the most talked about film in the world. Slumdog won the most awards at the Oscars throwing light on the potential that India has for creating good cinema. Though a Brit directed the film, most of its actors and crew have an Indian connection and the best part is that the film is based on our very own Mumbai. And this gives us Indians every reason to rejoice. u00a0 A R Rahman and Resul Pookutty started the winning spree by bagging the Golden Globe Awards and then went on the win the Oscars. u00a0 It cannot get bigger than this. Both these artistes have made India proud and their humble speeches after winning the Oscars touched a million hearts. Hats off to Gulzar as well. He is the least spoken about as far as Slumdog is concerned, but it is his lyrics that made Jai Ho! such a success. His contribution to the Indian film industry cannot be overlooked. In fact, every person associated with this film deserves applause. Oscar thriller Jai Ho! To both A R Rahman and Resul Pookutty. Hats off to Vikas Swarup for penning the novel Q and A that inspired the movie. u00a0 Director Danny Boyle has not only made a wonderful film, but thanks to him Azhar Mohammad Ismail, all of 10, who featured in the film had the privilege to walk the red carpet at the Academy Awards. He also changed the fortunes of the poor children by giving them an opportunity to work in Slumdog Millionaire. He has given them a reason to smile. u00a0 The victory at the Oscars has thrilled every Indian, but it makes me wonder why it takes a westerner to bring out the best in us.u00a0 Take a cue Indians across the world are celebrating the victory of Slumdog Millionaire at the Oscars. But its ironic that this is the second time a foreigner has put India on the world map as far as cinema goes. First it was Richard Attenborough who made Gandhi and now it's the British director Danny Boyle. u00a0 Indian filmmakers should draw inspiration from Boyle and attempt creating some meaningful cinema. Its high time they pay more attention to the storyline and screenplay of their films. u00a0 Danny Boyle and his team have done a fabulous job and deserve all the praise.u00a0 Proud moment Slumdog Millionaire is truly a recognition of India and has made the every Indian proud. as it swept the Oscars yesterday. These awards will go a long way in raising the standards of Indian cinema and will draw the attention of audiences across the globe towards Bollywood. I was thrilled to see A R Rahman and Resul Pookutty bag the Oscars. Their win will continue to inspire Indian artistes for decades. It has uplifted the spirit of our entertainment industry and has proved that today, India can compete with some of the best filmmakers.u00a0 u00a0u00a0 Slumdog Millionaire has a huge fan following and its win at the Oscars is just a way to thank the entire crew for giving the world one of the best films of all times.u00a0 I'm falling short of words to describe what these awards mean to India. All I can say is Jai Ho!u00a0 D-Day It's a BIG DAY and a proud moment for Bollywood and the Indian film industry. The country is celebrating the victory of Slumdog Millionaire, a film based in India. Slumdog has won eight awards that prove what a wonderful film it is.u00a0u00a0 u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0 There are no words to compliment A R Rahman for winning the Oscars for his mind-blowing musical score in the film. With Slumdog's win history has been created and this is just the beginning. I hope Indian films continue to gain recognition on the global stage. Congratulations to Danny Boyle and A R Rahman. u00a0 We are proud of Anil Kapoor as well. Though he plays the role of an anchor in the film he was the face of Bollywood at the Oscars.u00a0 Thank you Danny Slumdog Millionaire has made history by bagging eight Oscar awards. This film has made Indians across the globe proud. Three cheers to all the artistes, crew, technicians and production unit of the film who gave us this great moment of joy. A big thanks to director Danny Boyle who chose Mumbai as the venue for his dream project. u00a0 Heartiest congratulations to A R Rahman for being the first Indian to win two Academy Awards and to Resul Pookutty for great work with sound in the film. Slumdog's win is a momentous occasion for Bollywood. u00a0 It was heartening to see that every illustrious legend that graced the glittering event had great words of appreciation and encouragement for the cast and crew of Slumdog. The support and admiration that Slumdog received from the film fraternity was overwhelming.
