Here’s hoping K Rustom and CCI find a way

Like our report said, there is a veritable graveyard of landmark city institutions, ones that gave Mumbai a unique identity. These have disappeared off the map because of commercial considerations, or at times, because there was nobody to continue the legacy

An iconic ice cream shop, it seems almost sacrilegious to call it that, the K Rustom & Co. at Churchgate recently lost a case in the Court of Small Causes against landlords Cricket Club of India (CCI). The shop is now in terrible trouble, admitted a spokesperson in a front-page report in this paper.

A wary club recognising the sentimental place the ice cream shop has in Mumbaikars’ hearts, has claimed that it needs the space for expansion plans and the law will take its course. A burgeoning member base has meant the club needs more space, they claimed.
We do hope, like most Mumbaikars, that the ice cream shop and the club come to some solution outside of the legal route and ensure that the ice cream survives.
