The Blue Whale has claimed one more life in the country. A Std X student from West Bengal's Anandapur town in West Midnapore district is the sickening game's latest victim.

As per reports that surfaced during the weekend, the 14-year-old boy covered his head with a plastic bag and tied it around his neck with a cord to fulfil the game's last challenge of committing suicide.

Friends of the teenager later told the family that he had playing the Blue Whale challenge. The incident comes barely a month after mid-day reported about a Std IX boy from Andheri, who committed suicide by jumping off a high-rise.

In recent times, several similar cases have surfaced. A Std VII student trying to jump off a school building in Indore was rescued by his friends.

Last week, two cops intercepted a teenager from Solapur, who was on his way to complete one of the life threatening 'tasks' of the game. The 14-year-old was found just in the nick of time on a Pune-bound bus and his parents later found a cutter, a blade and a rope in his bag.

The warning signs of the game are the same in all the accounts. The 'players' had all been withdrawn and depressed for weeks. They avoided social gatherings, schools or sports clubs. Sleeplessness has also been associated with the game. If these symptoms are known, why are we unable to check this menace?

It's evident that the Blue Whale has been travelling far and wide in the country. It's time our top cops raise an alarm about the issue, instead of just waiting to rescue teenagers on the brink of committing suicide. People need to hear more about the Blue Whale menace from an authoritative figure who can suggest ways to combat it. It's time every single person in the country is made aware of this deadly game.
