Chris Gayle, the man with the rock star looks, who brilliantly led the West Indies from the front against Australia and sparked his dispirited side's revival, despite injuries to important players, says he's proud of the way his team "stood up to be counted".

In his syndicated column this morning, Gayle writes: "We showed a lot of guts and determination and who knows what would have happened if we had not had injuries at crucial moments in the series.
