And to add to it, was the strike byu00a0 oil companies. More than 60 per cent of petrol and diesel outlets across the city ran out of stock yesterday, causing a lot of inconvenience to the ordinary citizen. u00a0 If the demands of truckers and oil companies are not being fulfilled, they should strike outside the offices of ministers. Why are they harassing the public?u00a0 The fault lies with the government, but it is the public that has to bear the brunt of strikes and protestsu00a0 u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0 As per law, all bandhs are illegal. The same yardstick should be used against strikers as well. They are making a mockery of our democracy and holding the country at ransom.u00a0 Serpentine queues were seen outside petrol pumps across India yesterday, but all politicians did was give false assurances. Irresponsible Any action that harms the nation and causes national loss is unpatriotic. Our nation is still reeling under the aftermath of the 26/11 terror attacks and now truck operators went on a strike for over five days. This strike by truckers is cost us Rs 500 crore daily. When our own people are causing so much loss to the country, are we in a position to condemn the loss caused by the terrorists? These strikers are holding our nation to ransom. Are the strikes justified at a time when we are almost on the verge of war with our neighbour? We have a sense of duty towards our nation. Now, is the time to bridge our differences and stand together as a country.u00a0 Bad timing By last evening, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) workers called off the strike, but this was after causing a lot of inconvenience to the common man across the country. Rickshaws and taxis went off the roads and flights were delayed as well. u00a0 The strike was uncalled for, especially when our country has a bigger situation to deal with Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. It was very selfish of truckers and employees of oil companies to go on a nationwide strike. They almost brought the country to a standstill during these testing times. These strikers should be taken to task and fired. Busy delving into their problems, they have not spared a thought for the forces securing our borders. What a shame!u00a0u00a0

Arresting Raju is not the solution 

As usual, it was the common man who was left in the lurch because of the strike by truckers and oil companies
