The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s arrogance is not difficult to spot. On one hand, the elected president N Srinivasan tells a national news agency that the South Africa tour is definitely on. On the other, members of his own Board inform media persons that the tour was not discussed at all at Sunday’s working committee meeting in Kolkata.

Is this the kind of respect a major series between two heavyweight teams deserves? Interim president Jagmohan Dalmiya or Srinivasan ought to have come out with a full statement on the tour and clear the air as to why a two-Test series was hastily scheduled against West Indies when the focus should have been on the South Africa tour.
