Over two million children under the age of 15 are salaried workers in the European Union (EU) including developed countries like Holland, Denmark and France, an international child rights organisation has alleged.

Children who work is one of the most extended phenomena in all of central and eastern Europe, while poverty forces the young to take on adult work in face of necessity, "Save the Children" has said.

Beauty parlours, restaurants, laundries and cleaning companies are the major areas where immigrant children work.

These children also become victims of sexual exploitation, and work in mines under military control, Prensa Latina reported, citing a statement from the organisation.

"Save the Children" said hundreds of children arrive every year to Britain from Nigeria, Ghana and Uganda, where families hand them over hoping to guarantee quality education for them.

Meanwhile, the International Labour Organisation said that the world economic crisis has made it difficult to eradicate child labour, and there has been an increase of over eight million children exposed to dangerous work.
