Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz revealed that Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei was nearly assassinated during the June 2025 war. Katz claimed Khamenei escaped by going underground, evading Israeli forces. Several Iranian commanders were killed, and tensions eased after Trump announced a ceasefire between the two nations.

Amid the ongoing global tension across the globe, especially in the Middle East, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has made a bold statement. The Israeli defence minister on Thursday stated that Israel would have killed Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei amid the countries' 12-day war in June 2025, as per Reuters.
This statement from the Israeli Minister Katz signified that Israel was on the verge of eliminating Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Khameini. However, the Israeli defence minister further stated that Khameini evaded the elimination by going underground.
Refuting previous media reports from the Washington Post, Israel Katz said that Israel would not have required permission from the United States of America to eliminate Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during the countries' 12-day war.
