Indian-Ugandan Zohran Kwame Mamdani, son of filmmaker Mira Nair, started work as an Assembly member to the 36th Assembly district at the New York State Assembly on Saturday.
“Today is my first day as the Assembly member for NY's 36th AD. To hold this position is the honor of my life & I hold it because of you. You believed in a future where dignity is for the many, not just the few,” he tweeted.
