Nigerian Police arrest over 200 people at suspected same-sex wedding

The Nigerian Police has arrested more than 200 people at a suspected gay wedding. This comes as one of the biggest mass arrests in recent years targeting the country's LGBTQ community, CNN reported. A police spokesperson in the southern Delta state on Tuesday told reporters that 67 people will be prosecuted for 'allegedly conducting and attending a same-sex wedding ceremony.'

A police official in a a live broadcast on Tuesday described the event as evil and said 'We cannot copy the Western world we are Nigeria and we must follow the culture of this country.'
