On June 09, this year, Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu paid a visit to India for the swearing in ceremony of the new Cabinet. He explained that on August 5, people gathered in Dhaka despite a curfew. After meeting with security leaders, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina decided to step down. She urgently requested permission to come to India and also asked for flight clearance from Bangladeshi officials. We approved her request quickly, and she arrived in Delhi the previous evening.
