The IMD said the southwest monsoon has further advanced into parts of the south Arabian Sea, Maldives-Comorin region, south Bay of Bengal and sections of the northeast Bay of Bengal. Conditions remain favourable for its further advance into additional parts of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and northeastern states over the next two to three days

In its latest All India Weather Summary and Forecast Bulletin issued on May 15, the weather department also noted that a well-marked low-pressure area persists over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, along with an associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level
