Congress leader and LoP, Rahul Gandhi has stirred controversy after calling Lord Ram a “Mythological figure”. Rahul Gandhi’s latest remark at Brown University in the US has triggered massive controversy in India. During a discussion at the Watson Institute, the Congress leader referred to Lord Ram as a "mythological figure", a comment that has not gone down well with many in India. The BJP immediately labelled him "anti-Ram" and "anti-Hindu", questioning his understanding of India`s religious roots. More notably, saints and seers from Ayodhya have publicly condemned the statement, calling it an insult to millions of devotees.

Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP, raised an issue in Parliament about the Maharashtra elections. He claimed that between the Lok Sabha election, which the INDIA Alliance won, and the state Vidhan Sabha election, the voting population of Himachal Pradesh was added to the voter rolls of Maharashtra. According to him, this meant that the entire population of Himachal Pradesh was included as voters in Maharashtra. He pointed out that nearly 70 lakh new voters appeared on Maharashtra`s voter list between these two elections. Rahul Gandhi highlighted this as a matter of concern and wanted to bring it to the attention of the House.
