This new line is expected to be a game-changer for commuters in Mira-Bhayandar and North Mumbai. In a first for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), a double-chamber bridge has been introduced, integrating metro and suburban rail services within a single structure. Metro Line 9 is a key component of the broader Maha Mumbai Metro plan, which aims to seamlessly connect all metro routes by 2027.

A routine police response turned violent in Bhayandar on Friday evening when constable Kashinath Bhanuse was brutally attacked with a knife. Bhanuse, who was in plain clothes, had rushed to Babu Bhai Mistry Chawl in Shiv Sena Galli after reports of a heated dispute. But instead of diffusing the situation, he became a victim himself—stabbed by two men, identified as Babu Nepali and Dilip Bhimbahadur. Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Kamble acted swiftly, ensuring the accused were arrested immediately.
