The U.S. military has conducted another lethal strike on a suspected drug-trafficking vessel in the eastern Pacific Ocean, killing one person and continuing a months-long campaign of deadly actions at sea. Officials say the strike was carried out under Operation Southern Spear and targeted a “low-profile vessel” allegedly operating along known narcotics routes, part of what the Trump administration says is an effort to disrupt drug smuggling.
