France is on edge as new PM Sébastien Lecornu faces his first major political test, a controversial wealth tax proposal targeting the country’s billionaires. Strikes have shut down transport, hospitals, and schools nationwide, with nearly 800,000 protesters demanding higher taxes on the rich and more spending on public services. 

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has released shocking bodycam footage showing the fatal shooting of 35-year-old Gurpreet Singh, a Sikh man seen performing Gatka, a traditional Sikh martial art with swords, in downtown LA on July 13. The incident unfolded near Crypto.com Arena after officers ordered Singh to drop his weapon. Singh, wearing a blue turban, waved the sword in martial art movements and at one point cut his own face. He then retrieved a water bottle from his vehicle and threw it at police before officers opened fire.
