Morocco’s Atlantic port city of Safi has been struck by a sudden and catastrophic flood disaster after torrential rains unleashed chaos within just one hour, leaving at least 37 people dead and dozens more injured. Violent downpours turned Safi’s streets into raging rivers, sweeping away cars, debris and everyday life as muddy floodwaters engulfed neighborhoods, including large parts of the historic old city.
