Over 50,000 people have been evacuated to relief camps as the storm intensifies into a severe cyclonic system. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, directing all agencies to remain on high alert.

High tidal waves were witnessed in the coastal regions of Gujarat on June 12. IMD has issued an Orange alert for Saurashtra & Kutch Coasts in view of the extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm “Biparjoy” over the east-central and adjoining northeast Arabian Sea. Notably, as per Met dept, Biparjoy will make landfall on Saurashtra & Kutch Coasts on June 15. Porbandar DM KD Lakhani talked about preparedness for Cyclone Biparjoy.
