Preliminary reports indicate the fire was caused by a mechanical fault that led the automatic doors to jam shut, trapping passengers inside as flames spread rapidly through the aisle. Bodies were discovered clustered near the exit, suggesting desperate escape attempts. Eyewitnesses say a passing water tanker played a crucial role in containing the blaze before firefighters arrived. The air turned heavy with dust, roads vanished beneath layers of sand and the iconic Sonar Fort was barely visible through the storm’s haze. Residents awoke to an eerie scene—homes cloaked in dust, skies darkened and silence broken only by the howling wind. “The sun had disappeared. Everything looked grey and blurred,” said one local.
