Mira Road
A major fire erupted on Thursday in multiple tin-roofed huts built for labourers in the Sheetal Nagar area of Mira Road, near Mumbai. The fire caused two to three gas cylinders to explode; however, no injuries have been reported. The huts had been temporarily set up on an open plot to house construction workers. Around noon, a short circuit in one of the huts sparked the fire. At the time, two to three labourers were present inside. The fire brigade arrived promptly and managed to bring the blaze under control.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde, flagged off the trial run of Mumbai Metro Line 9, connecting Kashigaon to Dahisar East. This new line is expected to be a game-changer for commuters in Mira-Bhayandar and North Mumbai. In a first for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), a double-chamber bridge has been introduced, integrating metro and suburban rail services within a single structure. Metro Line 9 is a key component of the broader Maha Mumbai Metro plan, which aims to seamlessly connect all metro routes by 2027.
