Bringing a much needed relief to the commuters in Mumbai, Mumbai Metro 3 Phase 1 started its services on October 7. Connecting BKC(Bandra Kurla Complex) to Aarey, this metro service has come as a big relief to the commuters travelling on the western line. Developed at a cost of 32,000 crores, this is Mumbai’s first fully underground metro. In this first phase - around 12 km stretch has been inaugurated between Aarey Colony and BKC. In the subsequent phase - this stretch will be total of around 33 kms between Colaba - Arey and Seepz. This is known to be one of the most challenging projects for the authorities. In a major boost to Mumbai’s transport system, Mumbai Metro Line 3, Aqua Line, opened its operations for the public today with a 12.69-km stretch from BKC to Aarey. Running on 33.5 km, Mumbai Metro’s Aqua Line is one of the longest underground continuous metro stretches in India and first underground metro of Mumbai city.
