Mumbai and its neighbouring districts—Thane, Ratnagiri, and Raigad—are in for a sweltering weekend as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert. According to the latest weather update, these areas will experience heatwave conditions in some pockets for three days, starting Sunday. With temperatures on the rise, Mumbai is already feeling the summer heat. The city is expected to have clear skies over the next 24 hours, but the day is likely to be exceptionally hot. Meteorologists from IMD’s Regional Centre in Mumbai say the soaring daytime temperatures are due to strong easterly winds. As the heatwave sets in, experts urge residents to stay hydrated and limit their time under the sun to avoid heat-related health issues.

Earlier, parts of Delhi received spells of heavy rainfall, bringing much-needed respite from the sweltering heat. Several areas in and around the capital are waterlogged creating traffic disruptions in the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted the weather for the next seven days in Delhi, predicting generally cloudy skies and varying intensities of rain. As predicted by IMD for June 28, the forecast includes light to moderate rain or thunderstorms.
