The proposed legislation would give Trump the authority to impose tariffs of up to 500 percent on imports from nations doing business with Russia’s energy sector. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has come under intense scrutiny after defending an ICE officer who fatally shot a woman during a tense federal operation in south Minneapolis. The shooting occurred amid protests and a heavy federal law enforcement presence, just blocks from where George Floyd was killed in 2020. Noem labelled the incident an act of “domestic terrorism,” claiming the woman attempted to run over an ICE officer.
