Three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Shukroo forest area of Keller in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on May 13. Security forces recovered AK-47 rifles, grenades, Indian identity cards, and cash from the slain terrorists after the Shopian encounter. The joint operation was carried out by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police after intelligence inputs about militant presence in the region

On 13 May 2025, a joint operation by the Indian Army and police led to the elimination of three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists in the dense Shukroo forest area of Keller, in South Kashmir’s Shopian district. Acting on specific intelligence from a Rashtriya Rifles unit regarding terrorist presence in the Shoekal Keller region, security forces launched a cordon and search operation. As troops began combing the area, the terrorists opened heavy fire, leading to a fierce gunfight. In the ensuing exchange, all three terrorists were neutralised. The identities of the deceased are currently being verified.
