Severe storms have triggered multiple train derailments in Spain’s Catalonia region, killing 1 driver and injuring at least 20 passengers. A retaining wall collapsed near Gelida and a rockfall in Girona derailed separate trains as heavy rain battered the Mediterranean coast. The incidents come just days after a deadly high-speed train crash in southern Spain, raising fresh concerns over rail safety as storms intensify across Europe.  

A deadly high speed passenger train crash has shocked Spain after a derailment led to a catastrophic collision in southern Andalusia. At least 21 people have been confirmed dead, with dozens more seriously injured as rescue teams battle twisted wreckage near the town of Adamuz in the province of Cordoba.
