Himachal Pradesh's Congress senior leader Vikramaditya Singh has resigned as minister, amid the political turmoil going on in the state. He is the son of former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Virbhadra Singh. “Someone who was the CM of the state for 6 times, due to whom this Government was formed in the state - they could not find a small space for his statue at Mall Road. This is the respect this Government has shown to my late father. We are emotional people, we have nothing to do with posts...But this is very unfortunate...I am very hurt, not politically but emotionally" said the minister.

While Himachal Pradesh has been grappling with one of the worst floods in decades, Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s recent statement blaming the Bihari architects for the construction in the state that could not withstand the floods, has landed him in a damage control mode. Later, the Chief Minister clarified his alleged “Bihari architects” remark. In recent weeks, incessant Himachal rains and severe flooding have led to massive destruction of lives and property in the state.
