India’s star cricketer Virat Kohli has announced his retirement from Test cricket, bringing an end to a remarkable 14-year career in the longest format. Kohli, who wore jersey No. 18, shared the news on his Instagram account on May 12 with an emotional message to fans. Kohli played 123 Test matches for India, scoring 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85. His record includes 30 centuries, 31 half-centuries, and a highest score of 254. He finishes as India’s fourth-highest run-scorer in Tests, behind legends Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Sunil Gavaskar. Kohli's final Test series was the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, where he scored 190 runs in 9 innings, including a century in Perth. In 2024, he had a tough run with just 382 runs in 10 matches, averaging 22.47. Known for his passion and leadership, Kohli not only made his mark as a top batter but also took Indian Test cricket to new heights during his captaincy. His retirement comes shortly after Rohit Sharma also stepped away from Test cricket.
