India and the EU are set to announce the conclusion of their free trade agreement on Tuesday, after 18 years of talks. The pact may include duty cuts for India’s textiles and labour-intensive sectors, while the EU may receive reduced duties on cars and wines, along with services liberalisation

Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy lauded the reforms in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and said that the tax on coal has been reduced. The GST on coal has been raised from 5 per cent to 18 per cent. The council has now recommended ending Compensation Cess.
