A report by The Washington Post has stirred global debate after revealing details from a classified Pentagon briefing to the House Armed Services Committee. According to the report, US officials discussed a scenario where clearing the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil chokepoints, could take up to six months in the event of a major disruption. But Washington is pushing back hard. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell has rejected the interpretation outright, accusing sections of the media of “cherry-picking” intelligence from classified discussions. He stressed that such a prolonged disruption is both improbable and unacceptable to US defense leadership. WATCH
