Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat received a heartfelt welcome upon her arrival at Delhi`s Indira Gandhi National Airport on Saturday, despite recent setbacks in her career. The Haryana-born athlete, who was disqualified from the 50 kg gold medal bout for being 100 grams overweight, was deeply moved by the warm reception and expressed her gratitude for the support from her countrymen. Overcome with emotion, Vinesh broke down in tears during the event. Earlier this week, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected her petition for a joint silver medal. Following her disqualification, Vinesh announced her retirement from wrestling on August 8. The emotional reception highlighted the admiration and respect she commands, even as she steps away from the sport.
