Debasish Datta gets then India captain Sourav Ganguly to recall July 13, 2002
We did not anticipate that we would win the NatWest Series final after losing five wickets for 146. Most of our batsmen were in the pavilion. When I look back, it gives me a lot of satisfaction. But certainly, it is not the best victory under my belt.

Winning in Pakistan (2003-04), Australia (2003-04) and reaching the 2003 World Cup final are special to me. We lost wickets early on. The win was possible only because of Yuvraj and Kaif’s partnership. We were all superstitious towards the end.
We didn’t move from our chairs. I removed the shirt and continued to stay put. When I wore it back, it was a great feeling.
Our team was very young and as a leader, I was jubilant. I would probably not do that shirt-waving act again. It was a reaction to the excitement for that moment. After the match, they (Lord’s museum authorities) approached me for that shirt and I happily handed it over to them. We were chasing a huge total and we had to counter attack. So, we had to accelerate in the beginning. Viru (Virender Sehwag) and me did that and put on 106 for the first wicket. Ultimately, Kaif and Yuvraj’s partnership (121 runs) made the difference.u00a0
