Was it just another 'timely' amendment or shrewdness on the part of highly paid lawyers?
A top official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said yesterday that the Board’s lawyers forgot to inform the Bombay High Court about an amendment it made in its June 10 Working Committee in New Delhi, that led to the severe criticism of the under-fire BCCI president N Srinivasan by the court on July 30.

The Board intends to rectify that ‘error’ when it appeals against the Bombay High Court’s verdict in the Supreme Court.
“We made an amendment in one of the operational rules for IPL during our June 10 Working Committee meeting. Earlier, an inquiry had to only be internal, but after the amendment, rules allow two outsiders to be part of any probe panel. Our lawyers forgot to inform the Bombay High Court about this,” the source said.
“It was only after this change that the two-member panel of Justice T Jayaram Chouta and R Balasubramanian began the probe into the IPL VI episode.”
Yesterday, a BCCI press release said the Governing Council believes that the probe commission was properly constituted in accordance with the IPL Operational Rules, and has consequently decided that an appeal should be filed in the Supreme Court.
