"City of joy, I love you!! So much love here in Kolkata! My dida (grandmother) would have been so proud.. Thank you all...," the star posted on Twitter.
Hrithik's grandmother Ira (father Rakesh Roshan's mother) was a Bengali who married the Punjabi musician, Roshan.
Hrithik and Anushka Sharma arrived to Kolkata on Monday, a day ahead of their much-awaited performance at the opening and went straight into rehearsals despite thundershowers.
Getting nostalgic
Hrithik was overcome with nostalgia during the rehearsals. The star son's first live act after his stellar debut in father Rakesh's "Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai", was at the same venue in Kolkata.
He tweeted: "Dancing whr I danced 15 yrs ago. N cn c myself dance 15 yrs frm now. Never stop growing never stop learning."
