In a rather funny turn of events, an Australian married to a South African, who has mastered the art of yoga, will assist the Indian team during the rest of their tour here.

It was mental conditioning expert Paddy Upton who called upon the services of Jim Harrington, citing the importance of yoga therapy to help the team during its busy schedule in South Africa.

With Gary Kirsten, Upton and Eric Simons already with the side, Harrington is yet another South African connection in the Indian team management.

"I am enjoying the job. I am a specialist in yoga. My intention is to help cricketers using yoga and therapy. I have worked with a lot of athletes," Harrington told reporters.

Just then, when asked to name 'the athletes' he had helped, an almost blank Harrington said: "They are not major sportspersons. You wouldn't have heard of them."

Amusing, indeed. Just as the reporters were planning to grill Harrington further, Upton swooped in quickly to take questions on behalf of the nervous yoga instructor.

"The business of our training schedule at the moment does not provide us with enough time to help players with strength and stability training. There's more time needed for recovery. Just a thirty-minute one-on-one session of yoga in a day will help the guys with their senses and mental strengthening," Upton said.

"Yoga will provide players with a multi-disciplinary fitness and mental approach to a very busy schedule," Upton added.u00a0

Asked how Upton was helping players to remain unfazed by the sight of a greenish track at Kingsmead, he said: "The players are not taking too much notice of the wicket. They are preparing really hard. These things don't affect preparations."
