Maxwell will continue playing for Yorkshire after county teammate Aaron Finch was ruled out with a fractured foot.
Ferguson will fly out with the Australia A squad to India on Saturday ahead of their two four-day matches against India A in Chennai. Ferguson will remain in India for the one-day component of the tour, having already been named in the Australia A one-day squad.
