Chandrakant Pandit will now only contest for a place in the Managing Committee in the July 15 MCA polls. The former India stumper, who had also filed nominations for vice-president and Joint Secretary, withdrew from these posts yesterday.
Pravin Barve withdrew his nominations from the president, vice-president and Joint secretary posts, setting the stage for Dilip Vengsarkar and Vilasrao Deshmukh to battle for top spot. Barve will only contest for the treasurer's post.
Prof Ratnakar Shetty decided to contest only for the vice-president's post and withdrew his nomination from the treasurer's post. There were 16 withdrawals yesterday.
Forty-two candidates will vie for 11 posts in Friday's polls.
