It was revealed that Clarke, who underwent scans yesterday, has a strain to his right hamstring. He was injured in Sunday's loss to India here at the Adelaide Oval.
"I have a grade one hamstring strain, so will be out of Friday's game," Clarke posted on Twitter, describing the prognosis as "good news".
Clarke hopes to return for Australia's ODI against India Sunday in Brisbane. Cricket Australia physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said Clarke has a low grade injury.
"He had scans today (Monday) that confirmed the low grade nature of the injury. He will not recover in time to play in Australia's next Commonwealth Bank Series game Friday against Sri Lanka," he said.
