"Ferguson has been testing his mended knee with South Australia in Darwin, caressing a century against the Indian provincial side Maharashtra before playing in an experimental split innings fixture against Tasmania," The Age reports.
Twenty-five-year-old Ferguson, who is to participate in the Top End Emerging Players'' tournament, is keen to get back into the Australian squad.
"I'm extremely keen to get back into the Australian side as quickly as possible. That's really going to be something for the selectors to decide as soon as I get the all-clear from the physios about being ready to play the full game," The AAP quoted Ferguson as saying.
"And that's bloody exciting, if I manage to get myself ready to go in that team for that tournament that will be a huge highlight and something I'd be extremely proud of. The World Cup is not too far away now, that's rushed onto us a little bit," he added.
