Farokh Engineer, the flamboyant former India stumper, will deliver the fifth MAK Pataudi Memorial Lecture 2016-17 in Pune on January 13.
Engineer told mid-day yesterday that he was informed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about the lecture which is slated two days before the first one-day international between India and England.
"I'm truly honoured to be asked to deliver a lecture in memory of my late captain Tiger Pataudi. I could write a book on Tiger and he could write two on me," said
Engineer.
Engineer is the fifth Indian cricketer after Sunil Gavaskar, Anil Kumble, VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid to be asked to deliver the prestigious lecture.
The wicketkeeper-batsman played 27 out of his 46 under the captaincy of Pataudi. In fact, Pataudi and he ended their Test careers in the same Test – against West Indies in Mumbai during the 1974-75 season.
Yesterday, Engineer was felicitated by Podar College where he studied in the 1950s.
