Nadine Ferguson (30) estranged wife of Ferguson's son Darren, was airlifted to hospital after the accident yesterday, while their 10-year-old son Charlie and six-year-old daughter Grace were also hospitalised.
"The young boy ... is in a very serious but stable condition," said a spokesman for Cheshire police, adding that the six-year-old girl was treated for minor injuries.
Their mother's condition was also described as "serious" after the accident near her home in Cheshire, northwest England, the spokesman added.
The Sun newspaper described the Manchester United manager as "shaken" by the crash, although he showed no signs of the family concern yesterday night, when his side beat Arsenal 3-1 in a Champions League semi-final at the Emirates stadium in London.
