Four foreigners in playing XI is fine: Pollock

Mumbai Indians' mentor-cum-bowling coach Shaun Pollock yesterday said that the IPL should retain the present cap of four foreign players in a team's playing XI. Pollock said that allowing more foreigners on the field would hurt the development of local talent, the prime goal of the IPL.

Kings XI Punjab coach Tom Moody had suggested in a newspaper column recently that since the overall number of overseas players in the squad had been increased to 10, the teams must be allowed to increase the number on the field as well.

"Why would you want to change that? When you went to the auction, you chose your players based on the fact that you will need only four players," the former South Africa captain said. "The idea of the IPL was to discover local Indian talent. The more opportunities they get, the better for them."
