Guus Hiddink has quit as manager of big-spending Russian Premier League big-spenders Anzhi Makhachkala, the club announced yesterday.
The Dutchman’s resignation was accepted and his fellow-Dutchaman Rene Meulensteen, appointed to replace him.

Former Manchester United assistant coach Rene Meulensteen only joined Anzhi during the close season but has already been introduced to the players as the new head coach.
Hiddink, former Russia national manager, joined Anzhi on an 18-month contract in February 2012 and only last month decided to extend his stay by a year.u00a0
