There was growing uncertainty yesterday after news reports suggested that extremist outfit ULFA had called for an Assam bandh today to protest the arrest of two of their top leaders in Bangladesh and their subsequent handover to India. "Taxis won't ply and to and from Guwahati airport and even flights may not take off," one of the local journalists informed a section of the visiting media here. "No wonder Dhoni & Co are in a such a hurry to finish their batting and end the match early to be able to board a flight out of Guwahati this evening itself," quipped one of the outstation journos leaving the group in splits.

No water, no problem!
One of the sponsors' drinking water-carrying trucks reportedly met with an accident here on match eve due to which there was a shortage of water in the stadium yesterday. "About 40,000 water bottles were to be brought here but one of the vehicles carrying about 20,000 bottles overturned, wasting all the water. So, as an exceptional case we will let people bring in drinking water into the ground," one of the Assam Cricket Association officials informed yesterday. However, most of the spectators obviously had no clue of this rule amendment and so didn't carry any water. Fortunately, they didn't go thirsty for too long as the Indian batsmen ensured the match finished more than an hour before the scheduled 4:37pm close.
Mystery over Sunny's car
Many of the local TV channels here reported yesterday that the car reserved for India batting stalwart-turned-commentator, Sunil Gavaskar was robbed on match eve. "The driver stopped for lunch in the Malegaon area and returned only to see the Tata Sumo Grande (AS-01-AH-0066) stolen," said a TV report. However, this correspondent was surprised to see Gavaskar alighting from the same car (Tata Sumo Grande AS-01-AH-0066) at the Nehru Stadium. Looks like the culprit was nailed.
