Former Australia batting star Dean Jones has said that there is a good chance that Cameron White will face some heat for the world champions' loss to Pakistan on Saturday night.
"Selectors will be looking for reasons why the Australians lost to Pakistan last Saturday and White will be high on their list. They need White to fire in this World Cup and if he does, they might just win this thing," wrote Jones in his column published in the Sydney Morning Herald.
White was run-out for eight as Australia were bowled out for a paltry 176 at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo before Pakistan won by four wickets. It was Australia's first loss in a World Cup game since 1999.
"If the selectors omit White for the quarter-final against India on Thursday, this may bring his international career to an abrupt halt. He has had a poor World Cup and I feel he needs to get home and reassess what he wants to do with his cricket. His whole career needs to be looked at by his coaches and some honest thinking will be required if he wants to go to another level," wrote Jones, who was part of Australia's 1987 World Cup-winning team.
