Hussey excited to feature in a Test involving Tendulkar, Dravid, Ponting

Come Boxing Day in two days' time, for the first time in over 100 years, the top three run-getters in the history of Test cricket -- Sachin Tendulkar (15,183), Rahul Dravid (13,094) and Ricky Ponting (12,656) -- will be part of the same Test match.

Australian stalwart Michael Hussey acknowledged that it may never happen again, and has a testament to the greatness of the trio. "It's simply amazing when you think about it. Credit to those three guys. It tells you a little about their consistency and longevity in the sport. It's a real testament to their character, temperament and skill.u00a0

Obviously, we have to have some really good plans against the two Indian players. And from our perspective, we are hoping that Ricky can really flourish and score some big runs," Hussey told reporters yesterday.

Paying tribute to his former captain's attitude at the nets in recent times, Hussey felt that Ponting was on the brink of scoring big against India. "Ricky's attitude around the team has been fantastic. The way he's been hitting the ball at the nets, it's been great.u00a0

Even in the recent Tests against South Africa and New Zealand, he batted quite nicely for a few fifties. I am sensing some big scores for him around the corner," 'Mr Cricket' said.

Hussey didn't agree with Mark Taylor's view that India's batsmen haven't been tested over the last 12 months when compared to Australia's. "I am not sure about that. Most of their players have played here before and scored big runs. They should be able to adapt to these conditions quickly. We have to bowl extremely well for long periods to keep them under pressure. There can't be any other way of looking at it," Hussey said.

He also acknowledged the threat posed by Zaheer Khan. "We focussed a little bit on how to tackle swing during the Boot Camp. Justin Langer (batting coach) cranked up the bowling machine and was getting to swing the ball. We have faced Zaheer before, watched lot of footage too.u00a0

He's a class bowler, a very good exponent of the new ball and even better with the old ball. It's going to be a very tough challenge (to tackle him)," said Hussey.
