The Portuguese ace has in fact even admitted that he would love to score against United on the night.
Ronaldo salvaged a draw for Jose Mourinho’s team in the first leg after Danny Welbeck had given United the lead at the Santiago Bernabeu. And he now hopes to put his name on the scoresheet again in his first return to the stadium of his former club. He’s not too sure how he would celebrate the moment though, if it happened. “It would be a beautiful sensation,” Ronaldo told reporters. “If I score against them, it would be spectacular
“I can’t say how I'd celebrate — it would be something spontaneous — but I’d love to be in that situation.”
The 28-year-old expects said he would be welcomed by United supporters after winning three English Premier League titles and lifting the Champions League once during a six-year spell in the north west of England. “I’m sure they will receive me well,” said Ronaldo, who is the European competition's current joint-top scorer with seven goals. “After the years I spent there and the friendships I have, I’m sure it’s one of the places where they’ll applaud me most. It was a beautiful time.”u00a0
Rooney wary of Ron
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney admitted Cristiano Ronaldo is a massive threat for his side’s Champions League last 16 return against Real Madrid but insisted the Red Devils will have the last laugh over his former teammate and qualify. “I think we obtained a good result in the opening leg in getting a 1-1 draw — the away goal gives us a certain advantage for the home leg,” Rooney said, even as he warned that United would have to keep Ronaldo quiet if they were to reach the last eight. “He is incredible. I’ve played with him and know how good he is. He is the player I have the most respect for in their team as a footballer and as a person,” Rooney said of Ronaldo.u00a0
