Second-seeded Saina suffered a shock defeat to lower-ranked Malaysian Julia Pei Xian Wong 21-12, 13-21, 18-21 in the quarter-finals to bring the curtain down on India's campaign in the singles event.
u00a0"I started off well but I lost it on the way. In the second and third games I committed a lot of errors. I scored points in between, came back in the match but she was playing too well," said Saina. "I was also not playing well from the net and I made some judgemental errors," a disappointed Saina said told PTI.
Earlier, national champion Arvind Bhat lost to tournament favourite Taufik Hidayat.
"I was surprised to see his strong, sharp and crisp strokes. I couldn't gauge his game but this is the first time I was playing against him so may be next time I will beat him," Bhat said.
