IPL 2017: These young Indian cricketers had a blast this season

Washington Sundar, Rishabh Pant, Rahul Tripathi, Jaydev Unadkat, Nitish Rana

Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar
Rising Pune Supergiant's off-break bowler Washington Sundar, who picked eight wickets in 11 matches at an economy rate of 6.16, aptly filled the big void created by South African spinner Imran Tahir's departure. The Tamil Nadu tweaker's spell of 3-16 against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier-1 grabbed eyeballs and was the talking point in the cricket fraternity. A Sundar show was the best gift skipper Steve Smith could ask for.

Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant
Delhi Daredevils batsman Rishabh Pant, who scored 366 runs from 14 matches, grabbed the IPL platform this season with both hands. His 43-ball 97 against Gujarat Lions was instrumental in Delhi's seven-wicket win over the Lions. Pant has proved a point and has been constantly knocking on the doors of Team India selectors. Perhaps, more maturity in his game is what he lacks.

Rahul Tripathi

Rahul Tripathi
After Mayank Agarwal's failure as an opener, Rahul Tripathi relished the opportunity given to him by Rising Pune Supergiant. Opening the batting along with Ajinkya Rahane, Tripathi has scored 391 runs from 14 innings with a good strike rate of 146.44, his highest being 93. The Ranchi-born player has taken the attack to the opposition with his fiercer hitting, thus providing good starts for his side.

Jaydev Unadkat

Jaydev Unadkat
One of the many reasons of Rising Pune Supergiant's remarkable surge to the second spot in IPL-10 has been the performance of pacer Jaydev Unadkat. His slow off-cutters and consistency in taking wickets during the power plays has taken Unadkat to the second spot in the wicket-taker's list of IPL-10. With 24 wickets in 12 matches at a healthy economy rate of 7.02, Unadkat's rise has been in tandem with RPS'.

Nitish Rana

Nitish Rana
Mumbai Indians' biggest find in IPL-10 was young Nitish Rana. The 23-year-old Delhi batsman, who scored 333 runs in 13 matches for MI at 30.27, showed glimpses of what he can offer during the initial part of the tournament. Although Rana's form tapered a bit towards the end, his clean hitting and intent has surely pitted him as a player to watch out for in future.
