But Kohli is trying none-the-less. He was among the first to arrive for the nets yesterday but practiced only against thrown downs for about 30 minutes. He was seen working on his back-lift. He was also standing a lot more upright and focusing on playing towards the mid-off region.

Once he was satisfied, Kohli took a breather before confronting the net bowlers and the other Indian seamers. He opted for a leg stump guard, unlike the middle-stump line that has largely proved his undoing in the series.

Initially, the new technique seemed to be working fine but as the session progressed Kohli started struggling once again and looked frustrated. The vice captain however, vented his anger on the spinners, and smashed them into the stands. All of a sudden he was a changed man!
