England Test captain Andrew Strauss warmed up for next week's Lord's Test by scoring a quick-fire 78 for Somerset against India at Taunton yesterday.

Strauss has made a brief loan move to Somerset from Middlesex in the hope of rediscovering form after a miserable run during the Tests against Sri Lanka.

India's bowlers found it tough on a rain-interrupted day and Somerset had advanced to 329-2 at stumps, with Arul Suppiah unbeaten on 145.

India rested Ishant Sharma, skipper MS Dhoni and VVS Laxman.
